Meet the Directors

Alycia Bingaman is our head director for Adams Middle School. She grew up in Allen, Texas and went to East Texas State University where she studied clarinet under Dr. Jim Deaton and band ensemble under Tom Bennett and Bobby Francis. Mrs. Bingaman has taught band for 24 years in various schools across North Texas. Prior to teaching in Northwest ISD, she taught in Mesquite ISD for 5 years, Rockwall ISD for 3 years and Allen ISD for 11 years.  Mrs. Bingaman is married to John Bingaman, percussion director at Byron Nelson HS. They have two children Robert, 10 and Carsten, 6. Mrs. Bingaman is an active clinican and adjudicator across North Texas and an active member of Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association and Phi Beta Mu.  In her free time, Mrs. Bingaman enjoys chauffeuring her boys to all their baseball practices and activities!

Stephanie Northam is our assistant director of the Adams Middle School Band. She is originally from south Texas and earned her degree in music education from the University of North Texas, where she studied euphonium with Peggy Heinkel-Wolfe and Brian Bowman. Prior to teaching at Adams, Mrs. Northam taught at Tidwell MS in NISD. She also taught band in Arlington ISD and Bethesda Christian School and taught private low brass lessons in NISD.  Mrs. Northam also had the unique opportunity to start a small band program among a team of missionary kids and expatriates in Mbale, Uganda. She is a member of Texas Music Educators Association and is excited to be part of the Adams team! Mrs. Northam resides in NISD with her wonderful husband Darin, and three amazing children, who are also all musicians. When the Northam family isn’t rehearsing or practicing, they love to travel!

Nicole Loyd
is starting her 18th year teaching band and her 2nd year at Adams Middle School. She began her teaching career in Plano ISD at Jasper High School where she spent three years enjoying teaching both Concert and Marching Bands. The following seven years were spent in Keller ISD at Hillwood Middle School where she fell in love with the middle school setting.  Prior to joining the Adams Band staff, Ms. Loyd taught six years in Northwest ISD at Chisholm Trail and Wilson Middle Schools.   
Ms. Loyd graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2003.  She studied clarinet and woodwind pedagogy under the direction of Carol Jessup.  She studied conducting and performed in the Wind Ensemble, both under the direction of Mr. Ray Lichtenwalter.  Ms. Loyd was also an active performer in the Maverick Marching band playing clarinet, as well as a member of the colorguard.  Outside of school, Ms. Loyd loves to spend time with her two daughters, Randee (8 years) and Preslea (4 years).  She is a devout Camp Gladiator member and enjoys being outdoors.  She loves all kinds of animals including her polydactyl cat, Trigger, her new Great Dane puppy Rover and whatever snake, lizard or bug her daughter has decided to bring home.
